Desierto Florido

This weekend I got to see a special natural phenomenon that happens here in Chile in the Atacama Desert which is one of the driest deserts in the world – I know… that sounds weird… all deserts are dry.

The flowered desert is something that occurs here in Chile around August and September, depending on the rain fall during the year, where the land which is normally barren desert grows a wide range of flowers. This year there was a heap or rain up north, and so, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by, and I had to go see it.

Later on I’ll share will you all, all about my trip but for now, check out some of the close up photos I took of the different types of flowers we discovered in the desert!
