Centro Cultural la Moneda
Somewhere I have always wanted to visit in the past 3 years is the Centro Cultural la Moneda (Cultural Center of the Moneda) located underneath la Plaza de la Ciudadanía, in front of la Moneda! The Center is run by the Fundación Centro Cultural Palacio la Moneda (The foundation of the Cultural Center of the Moneda Palace) which is a charitable foundation with which aims to, according to its website, “develop, study, disseminate, promote and preserve all forms of art, culture and education”. Its board is chaired by the Ministure of Culture and is made up of nine members who represent public and private institutions and people with many years’ experience in the cultural field.
On Tuesday we had a public holiday here in Chile and so taking advantage of the day off Renzo and I visited the Centro! At the moment the Centro has various exhibition on at the moment, but the one I was wanting to check out was on Andy Wahol – and it didn’t disappoint. Be sure to check out the webpage to see what is going on! At the moment there is also clases de pop art for adults and children and a market as well as various other things.
The Centro is located by the Moneda metro station – Plaza de la Ciudadanía 26, right infront and below of the Moneda palace.
The expositions are open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 19:30 and events in the cineteca national are from Monday to Sunday from 15:00 to 20:30.
